It is hard to imagine that there are still people in this world that have never even heard the name of Jesus, unreached people groups that have never heard the Gospel. God has been stirring our hearts for these people, and our desire is to GO and share Jesus with them. This summer (August 6-17) we have an incredible opportunity to do just that! Chris, Tanner and I will be traveling to Nepal with e3 Partners Ministry to bring the gospel to “unreached” people in that country. Our hope is that when you read about this trip and see the urgent need, you will prayerfully consider supporting us financially and in prayer.
Nepal is a landlocked country sandwiched between China and India. With
a population of 27 million, the majority are Hindu (81%) with Buddhism
next at 12%. Christians only account for approximately 1.4% of the
population. Most of the people worship idols and live in fear of the
thousands of Hindu gods. The simple truth is that they need Jesus, and
many will be very receptive if someone brings the Good News. That’s why
we want to go!
So what exactly will we be doing? Each member of the team will be paired up with a translator, and every day we will split up into small teams and travel with our translators as well as some Indian Christians into rural villages where we will get to know the people, pray for them and present the good news of Jesus. We will be taking the greatest story of God’s love to people who desperately need to know Him! Since we have never been to India, we will need to be trained how to effectively evangelize in a Hindu culture and that is something that the leadership of E3 Partners provides.
In partnership with local Nepali pastors and believers, our team expects to plant churches in 5 villages… and maybe even more. Nepali pastor-evangelists are prepared to give leadership to the development of the new churches planted and will continue the work long after we leave. One of the aspects that we really love about this opportunity is the fact that we are working alongside the nationals to produce long-lasting fruit!
As a couple, we have had the privilege of serving together on two mission trips (Haiti-2008 and India-2012), and both of those trips were truly life changing for us. Serving together on the mission field have been highlights in our marriage, and we have been eagerly looking forward to the day we could take our boys with us. While Colten (3) is still a little young for one of these trips, we believe that now is the time for Tanner (10) to experience missions with us and we could not be more excited about this opportunity to go to Nepal together! The logistics and financial needs for a trip like this can seem overwhelming in our natural mind. However, one thing we know and have experienced first hand is that God works far beyond our natural logic. While this is a huge(!) step of faith for us, we believe that God is calling us to GO and our greatest desire is to be obedient to His call. But, this can only happen if others sense God’s calling to SEND us. As it says in Romans 10:13-15:
